Welcome. The photos on this site are my attempt at capturing the people and places of our world, with many thrown in for fun. You can browse my gallery by using the links on the left of this journal entry or by clicking on the Gallery button above.

A lot of my images would be considered snapshots versus art. I post these images because I believe dA should be about sharing ideas, techniques, and vision, even if it's not represented in the perfect image. I look forward to improving my vision and technique over the years, but in the meantime, leave some feedback!

As a civil and water resources engineer, I recently had the opportunity to join Engineer's Without Borders, similar to the well known Doctor's Without Borders non-profit aid group. As part of a team of 6 engineers, I traveled to the Peten region of Guatemala to assess recent flooding in a town of roughly 10,000 people. 750 families lost everything in 2008 after a tropical depression caused immense flooding. Most of the photos I took I'd consider to be snapshots, especially since I was using a Panasonic LX3. Anyhow, I've decided to post a few of the more interesting images. I'll also be posting a series of portrait sessions taken for my firm, AECOM. These are my first attempt at portraits with an off-camera flash, so we'll see how it goes. Technique, etc., all comes from reading up on sites such as Strobist.
